About
Giovanni Strambio De Castillia was an Italian painter and sculptor active from 1955 to 2009.
Giovanni was born in Milan in 1938 and started painting while in his late teens. His talent was polyhedric and his artistic production was extremely bountiful ranging from figurative paintings to mixed media collages, large canvasses, wooden sculptures, and installations.
He did most of his work while living at Villa Gavazzi, his family ancestral home in Valmadrera, on the shores of Lake Como. When not painting, sculpting, reading, writing, passionately discussing about politics and spending time with his son, daughter, and grandchildren, he loved biking and hiking in the mountains surrounding the town of Lecco.
